The details

Fabric and construction

The body is an 82.5% polyester, 17.5% spandex knit. The polyester share gives the surface its smooth, cool handfeel and keeps the colour stable through repeated washing, while the spandex is what lets the band stretch over the ribcage and come back without going slack. Because the whole piece is knitted as one tube, the fabric has the same density at the underband as it does at the neckline, which is why the band supports without a second layer of elastic.

Edges are bonded and flat-finished rather than folded and stitched, so nothing sits proud against the skin. The cups are moulded to a 3/4 shape and drop into inner pockets, which means you can take them out before washing and put them back where they belong. Slight variation of 1 to 3 cm between pieces is normal for knitwear.

Fit and sizing

This is a close-fitting longline bra that runs true to standard US sizing. Sizes run from S to XXL, and the band is the measurement that matters most: measure snugly around the ribcage just under the bust, then choose the size closest to that number. If you are between two sizes, size up for a softer band and a little more room through the bust.

The longline body is designed to sit at the natural waist, so it also works as a cropped top with high-waist leggings. If you plan to wear it on its own rather than under a shirt, take your usual size; if you want it to compress a little more under a top, size down.

Care

• Cold machine wash with like colours, in a mesh bag if you have one.
• Do not bleach.
• Tumble dry low, or hang to dry for the longest life.
• Do not iron.
• Do not dry clean.
• Remove the padded inserts before washing and reshape the cups while damp.

Questions

Will it show through under a light top?

The knit is dense and stays opaque in normal wear, and the moulded cups add a smooth layer over the bust. Under a very thin white tee in bright daylight you may see the outline of the straps, which is normal for a support bra worn as a base layer.

Does the underband roll or fold over?

The band is knitted as part of the body rather than sewn on, so it stays level through bending and twisting. As with any longline bra, it sits best when the band is sized correctly; a band that is too small will start to curl at the front.

Can I wear it without a shirt?

Yes. The longline body covers to the natural waist and the edges are flat-finished, so it reads as a cropped tank top with high-waist leggings or shorts.

How should I wash it?

Cold machine wash with like colours, no bleach, tumble dry low or hang to dry, and no ironing or dry cleaning. Take the padded inserts out first so they keep their shape.
