A bike short that sits high on the waist and stays there, with a smooth seam-free front so you are not adjusting mid-class.

Why you will love it

  • The waistband is set high, at the narrowest part of your waist rather than at the hip, which is what keeps the short from sliding down when you flow, run or cycle.
  • The front is cut as one smooth panel with no centre seam, so the short stays flat and line-free through forward folds, squats and long seated stretches.
  • A bike-short leg that finishes above the knee, short enough to keep the thigh free and long enough that the hem does not roll up as you move.
  • A dense, matte knit with plenty of stretch and recovery, so it holds its shape through a sweaty class and still looks tidy worn under an oversized tee afterwards.

Fabric and construction

The knit is 82.5% polyester with 17.5% spandex, a fine-gauge blend chosen for a soft, matte handfeel rather than a slick or shiny finish. The spandex share is what gives the short its stretch and its recovery, so the leg returns to shape after a class or a run instead of holding the creases of the last hour.

Each pair is cut with a single smooth front panel and flat, low-bulk seams at the inner leg, so there is no ridge pressing into the skin when you sit or lie on the mat. The waistband is finished flat at the top edge so it lies level under a top rather than bunching at the waist.

Fit and sizing

This style runs true to standard US sizing, so take the size you normally wear in leggings or shorts. It is a close fit by design, which is what keeps the short from riding up when you move.

If you are between two sizes, take the larger one: the knit has high stretch, so the smaller size will still go on, but the larger size sits softer over the hip and keeps the waistband from digging in when you sit. If you prefer a relaxed short rather than a compressed one, size up a single step.

Care

  • Cold machine wash with like colours, inside out.
  • Do not bleach.
  • Tumble dry low, or hang to dry to protect the stretch.
  • Do not iron.
  • Do not dry clean.

Questions

Will the leg roll up when I run or cycle?

The hem is cut to finish above the knee and the knit is dense rather than thin, so the leg holds its position better than a light, slippery short. As with any fitted bike short, how well the hem stays also depends on fit, which is why we suggest sizing up rather than down if you are between sizes.

Is the front really free of a centre seam?

Yes. The front is cut as one smooth panel with no centre seam, which is the detail that keeps the short line-free through forward folds and squats. The seams sit at the inner leg, where they are flat and low-bulk.

Are they opaque enough to wear on their own?

The knit is dense and opaque in normal wear, including squats and forward folds. As with any high-stretch knit, a very light colour under strong backlight can show more than a dark one; the black, cocoa and grey colourways are the most forgiving.

Can I wear them outside the studio?

Yes. The matte surface and clean front mean they read as a plain black bike short rather than gym kit, so they sit under a blazer, a shirt or an oversized tee without looking out of place.
