A wide-leg flare that starts high at the waist and falls clean from the knee, cut in a knit soft enough to forget you are wearing it.

Why you will love it

  • A high-rise waistband that settles at the natural waist and stays there through forward folds, twists and long sits, so you are not pulling at your waistline mid-class.
  • The leg is slim through the hip and thigh, then opens into a wide-leg micro flare from the knee, a line that lengthens the leg and clears the floor without dragging.
  • A high-stretch knit that follows long strides and deep lunges, then springs back to its shape instead of bagging out at the knee.
  • Flat, low-bulk seams and a smooth handfeel that sit comfortably under a loose tee on the way to the studio, and look composed enough to wear straight into the day.

Fabric and construction

The knit is 82.5% polyester with 17.5% spandex, a fine-gauge blend picked for a smooth, barely-there handfeel rather than a slick or shiny finish. The spandex share is what gives the fabric its high stretch and its recovery: the garment returns to shape after a class, a run or a long day on your feet instead of holding the creases of the last hour.

Each pair is cut as a single layer and sewn with flat, low-bulk seams, so there is no ridge to press into the skin when you sit or lie on the mat. The waistband is set with a high-rise finish and finished flat at the top edge. Slight variation of 2 to 3 cm between pieces is normal for knitwear, and it is the reason two pairs in the same size can feel a touch different at first wear.

Fit and sizing

This style runs true to standard US sizing, so take the size you normally wear in leggings. It is a close fit through the hip and thigh by design; the flare starts at the knee, which is why the leg reads long without needing extra length in the body.

If you are between two sizes, take the larger one: the knit has high stretch, so the smaller size will still go on, but the larger size gives a softer line over the hip and keeps the waistband from digging in when you sit. If you prefer a relaxed, roomier leg, size up one step and the flare will fall wider rather than shorter.

Care

  • Cold machine wash with like colours, inside out.
  • Do not bleach.
  • Tumble dry low, or hang to dry to protect the stretch.
  • Do not iron.
  • Do not dry clean.

Questions

How long is the inseam, and will the flare drag on the floor?

The leg is cut full length and the flare begins at the knee, so the hem clears the floor in bare feet for most wearers and sits just above the ground in trainers. The flare is a micro flare, not a wide bell, so it clears the shoe rather than covering it. If you are petite, expect the hem to break slightly on the shoe.

Will the waistband roll down when I bend or twist?

The waistband is a high-rise knit band finished flat at the top edge, set at the natural waist rather than at the hip. That placement is what keeps it in position through forward folds and seated twists. As with any knit band, how it holds also depends on fit, which is why we suggest sizing up rather than down if you are between sizes.

Are they opaque enough to wear on their own?

The knit is dense and opaque in normal wear, including deep squats and forward folds. As with any high-stretch knit, a very sheer-light colour under strong backlight can show more than a dark one; the black, espresso and grey colourways are the most forgiving.

Can I wear them for pilates, cycling and everyday errands?

Yes. The high-rise waist and high-stretch knit were chosen for mat work and low-impact training, and the flare is wide enough at the hem to clear a bike pedal without catching. The smooth, matte surface also means they sit under a blazer or an oversized shirt without looking like gym kit.
